Big rig-driving women are the new queens of the roadHere’s something I betcha didn’t know: The number of female truckers has increased by 68% since 2010, due in part to a trucker shortage... and the promise of good pay. Mother truckers make bank… or at least equal wagesThe gender pay gap is problematic in many industries, but not trucking. Truckers are paid by the mile, per load, hourly, and sometimes even by salary... regardless of gender. New technology and changes in warehouse protocol have leveled the playing field. XPO trucks boast a modern transmission system that makes driving less strenuous. And, increasingly, at many warehouses, drivers -- male or female -- are not responsible for loading and unloading the truck. As e-commerce gets bigger, there will be even more demand for transportation workers. Ladies, do your thing. But life on the highway isn’t always easyRookie truckers must spend hours on the road with a trainer, and most are men. Plus, finding a safe place to park overnight can be challenging: Lots are often full at the end of the day, which means late arrivals must drive past their limits or park illegally on the side of the road… which can be scary for anyone. Meanwhile, trucking turmoil is afoot -- er -- awheel? More than 3.6k Mack Trucks employees represented by United Auto Workers are strikingfor fair pay and job protections. This strike comes as the UAW’s nationwide strike against General Motors reaches its 1-month mark. |

First, follow the “20-20-20” rule. The American Optometric Association defines this rule as taking a 20-second break every 20 minutes to look at something 20 feet in the distance. This will allow your eyes to blink and relax. There are many apps available to help remind you to follow this rule.
Second, use lubricating eye drops before extended computer use. This tactic will reinforce the body’s natural tears and keep the eye’s surface hydrated. But avoid those “get-the-red-out” drops. They contain drugs that cause long-term redness and preservatives that may damage the outer layers of the eye. I have found that artificial tears labeled “preservative free” often work best.

PEAK disclosure, click for a peak Feels like Sunday, yet it is Monday, Thanksgiving, Canada’s Thanksgiving Day.
As I travel across Northern Ontario this morning I have had lots of time for reflection, and am grateful, thankful for all in my life. Driving through rain and snow, seeing the moon set, the sun rise and feel the coolness of the winter winds that are making their way across these lands. Listening to Joel Salitan speak about sustainable abundance , you get a lot of ideas. With brother John driving I am now able to catchup on my blogging. Roads are pretty good, dry now for the most part. Just had a delicious cheese bagel with sausage paddy, over hard egg with a slice of Swiss cheese, it was rather tasty. Washed down with a cup of Robins coffee. We ran out of bottled water, started the journey with a case from Walmart, and we drank the last one last night. Have not had a chance to visit a store to replenish, so I thought I would buy a couple bottles to hold us over. Well what a surprise , pricing was premium for sure. $2.40 plus tax x two = $5.42 , now it’s a special beverage , spring water from Filane’s Spring Water, an oversized bottle 501 ml , so a little extra, usually you only get 500 ml. Www.filanes.com The Water comes from a 166 foot well in Screiber, Ontario located in Northern Ontario, amongst the Pre-Cambrian Shield.
There is a number of dissolved mineral salts. I recognize some of them.
Na sodium Ca Calcium Mg Magnesium Zn Zinc K Potassium Cu Cooper
The others HCO3 CI SO4 N F Pb As
Now As is .002 PPM, parts per million
Vs HCO3 48.2 Parts Per Million Interesting business, spring water from a deep well. Maybe we should be bottling that good filter water at brother Luke’s well, we talked about the delicious water there being sold before.
People pay a lot for water, this is a perfect example.
It is good for you, Water is important, we need it in our bodies to live well. The minerals in the beverage help replenish the body and are needed by us. So beverages that have nutritional value are good to bring to the market place.
A little extra in the bottle, bakers dozen, going the extra mile. 1 ml maybe pushing the mile with that one.
Marketing, distribution, production, handling, retail profit margins, refrigeration, refreshment , a cool idea, gets your attention, ( now I didn’t have a choice, it was all they had available) perhaps if I had a chance I might have reached for the bottle out of curiosity) and simply just being there are key components to this making a sale .
Did you know that we pay more for water than gas ? Let’s take this example and do the math.
501ml @ 2.40 plus hst ( harmonized sales tax) 13% ( 5 to Federal and 8 to Ontario government) = $5.41 per litre, compared to gas at $1.20 per litre, it’s an interesting observation. Wholesale at Walmart say the cheap stuff at $4 a case = 47 cents a litre. If your paying a dollar for a 500 ml bottle, that’s $2 a litre. Yes you are paying more for water than you are gas, sometimes huge premiums. One of the price points for Nature’s Energy Water is $3 per 250 ml, similar to Red Bull retail value.
Compare it to a Tim Hortons Medium coffee, I paid 1.76 plus tax , thinking it’s about 12 ounces , so that works out to $5.60 per litre
Bottom line, beverages cost more than gas or diesel even those in the far north were there is no internet service.
Coffee, Water , Gas, Diesel = Today’s Fuel , do the math , gas is pretty reasonable from this perspective. My advice, drink your own water and consider Nature’s Energy Water next time it is available, a premium beverage, that is Simply Refreshing ! Supporting fair trade, Canada’s true blue, green national beverage, since the eve of time, an ancient hydrator filtered by nature.
As the lady at Frantz Restaurant said , perhaps it’s time to get your water business going bigger, people are ready to consume beverages that are better for them.
October 14, 2019 The Power to Edify “Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.” (2 Corinthians 13:10)
The Greek word oikodomos (translated as “edification”) pictures the building of a house. We still use the word edifice to describe a structure of some importance. Paul specifically said he had the “power” to edify and later called himself a “wise masterbuilder,” an architekton, who laid the foundation on which we would later build (1 Corinthians 3:10).
When Jesus used oikodomos to depict those who might build their house on a rock (His Word) or the sand (the ideas of men), He was painting a picture of how we should edify each other (Luke 6:48-49). The various gifts of leadership are to be used to “perfect” the saints in the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12), using the living “stones” that will build the “spiritual house” of God (1 Peter 2:5).
And like any good builder, the Christian carpenter has tools of the trade to assist the process. There are “things which make for peace” that must be employed (Romans 14:19). Most certainly “charity” is a major tool (1 Corinthians 8:1), along with good communication that does not “corrupt” the building work (Ephesians 4:29).
Since “all things” are to be done so that the church is edified (1 Corinthians 14:26), it surely follows that “fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions” are not helpful (1 Timothy 1:4). Effective communication demands that those with whom we are speaking understand what is said, hence a mysterious “tongue” does not publicly edify like prophecy does (1 Corinthians 14:2-4).
An “edified” church walks “in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost” (Acts 9:31). HMM III

First time I ever seen a bit coin ATM was this weekend near Winnipeg at the Frantz Inn. The Frantz Inn is apparently the only night club in Steinbach, Manitoba. It’s a nice looking place, we had good rooms for the night and very nice restaurant to dine in. Rates seemed reasonable at 99 for the night and included two $8 vouchers for breakfast.
Met a Manitoba MTO Forman after we got on the Trans Canada , apparently there is still homes west of Winnipeg that still are without hydro, lots of snow , and the area has been building in flood waters since early September, it’s been raining a lot, rivers are over their Bank’s most everywhere. Because it is so wet the leaves have not had a chance to fall off the trees yet in many places and that has contributed to a lot of branches breaking with the snow sticking to the leaves . We seen that in Winnipeg, large branches down everywhere. It was a mess. He knew the owners of the Frantz and was living in Steinbach, we greeted each other with Thanksgiving wishes and pleasant thoughts of driving safe . There is not too many people out traveling these roads today on Thanksgiving Sunday.
Www.WinnipegBTC.com will get you info on the Winnipeg entrepreneur encouraging BitCoin in the region. Check out the pictures for the different conversion rates , great conversation piece and a precursor to the new currency. Reminds me that a bit coin exchange for maple and birch water transactions could be in the future as I have previously envisioned.
Now, what were you doing there ? Well, picking up a claw for the South Coast Escape Company to be part of “The Capitol” escape room coming to our area soon.
well, I came across this in my mail this Thanksgiving morning and would like to try it.
Yes is what I thought
Timothy, do you ever find yourself craving comfort foods?
Well, if you’re anything like me, the answer is a resounding YES!
Especially around this time of year, as the days start to get shorter and the nights become chillier.
There’s just one problem, though: Many of our “fall favorites” are full of health sabotagers like lectins, sugar, and dairy.
All of which can leave you feeling gassy, bloated, and sluggish. And of course, they’re major waistline expanders.
But in my opinion, you shouldn’t have to deny yourself of the foods you know and love.
The good news is, all it takes is a little twist here and there to turn unhealthy comfort foods into HEALTHY ones.
So today, I want to share something with you. It’s a dish Penny and I make all the time.
It doesn’t have any lectins, dairy or excess sugar… so you’re not left with the uncomfortable “side effects” of a traditional comfort food.
Best of all, it’ll have your taste buds jumping for joy.
I’ll share the health benefits with you in just a minute. But my mouth is already watering — so why don’t I just give you the recipe right now.
It’s a little something I like to call:
Dr. Gundry’s Cheesy Roast Broccoli
Now, this dish has a few incredible ALL-STARS when it comes to your health...
The first is broccoli.
Broccoli is filled with all sorts of vitamins and minerals. The standout is vitamin C. This powerful antioxidant can be a BIG boost to your immune system — which everyone needs around this time of year.
It’s also a known prebiotic fiber. So, it nourishes your “good” gut bugs. And as they start to crowd out the bad bacteria, you’ll quickly begin to notice fewer cravings, smoother digestion, and more energy.
Next up is, the “fat fighter.”
But you may know it better as garlic. Turns out, garlic contains a compound called allicin.
And the beautiful thing about allicin is it’s thermogenic. That means it raises your body temperature, which kick starts your metabolism to help you burn more calories.
Now that’s what I call a comfort food!
So, give this delicious dish a try tonight. I guarantee you’ll love it.
Looking out for you,
Steven Gundry, MD

P.S. The holiday season is fast approaching. And with it comes a laundry list of foods that may taste great... but are also MAJOR “gut bombs.” That’s why it’s crucial to give your gut some added protection. One of the best ways to do that is with a daily dose of prebiotics. This special class of fiber builds your army of “good” bacteria so you can stay free from bloating, weight gain, and digestive troubles. I discovered a SUPER easy, 30-second trick to do all of that for you. (Best of all, it doesn’t require any cooking.)
had as a delicious breakfast this morning in Manitoba, great conversation with a young couple , spoke with them about Nature’s Energy Water , they think the time for that kind of beverage is upon us. They were able to do a google search for me , Omega stewardardship Linked me up.

22. Wear yellow. It’s the color we associate with energy and optimism (possibly because it reminds us of the sun) and wearing it could give your mood a boost. Another option: Paint the walls of your bedroom or bathroom in the feel-good hue.
23. Listen to music. For an instant pick-me-up, crank up the techno tunes or dance beats in your car on the way to work. Just 12 minutes a day of upbeat music can bring about a lasting positive effect in your mood over a two-week period.

One of my esteemed thought leaders that I know posted this early this morning.
"understand that taxes will be the largest expense during your lifetime
understand the tax code and rules
and get a good tax planner, not a tax preparer (Know the difference)
tax planning is part of financial planning"
It's so true, it's one of the reasons we run a family office, it gives us the full picture of a clients financial life, plus important insights in other aspects of their life as well. We are able to make sure all the pieces of the puzzles fit and a big part of this is to maximize the tax efficency's that my be possible, everyone's sitution is different.
For many, taxes are number one, even those with modest incomes will find that they are paying a lot out in various taxes, even if there personal federal and provincial taxes is nil or minimal.
Taxes are part of our Mission, Vision and Core Values , incase anyone ever wonder , we get it
Will expand on this topic in the future.

We have been doing the recycling for sometime now. Recently I decided that we need to start composting a little more seriously. So we changed our garbage can into a compostable receptor and put a little can beside it for actual garbage. The results of separation over the first week was an eye opener. Big reduction in waste.
On a mass scale this is huge. I have just did it for the office. With time will get the whole building involved. We have been doing this at the house for a couple years now with nice results. Sure saves a lot of money and trips to the dump, plus created some awesome resources for the gardens.
We all could do this. Looking forward to seeing if change can happen for you. Reduce your impact on the environment, one step at a time.

I came across this quote while reading my Habitat for Humanity newsletter yesterday.
Great organization, I have many fond memories of the people there, the history that I have shared with many, I remember Valerie Kines, Second Cup, Rotary times with her , climbing with David & Becky raising funds with them ( 15,000 + for our Everest Base Camp adventure which ended by earthquake) with Dreams Mountain Foundations Alumni, at the events we held , Kim Rice and her husband promoting the local events for us, Gerry and his wife, and all the little trips and finds at the store, good stuff to warm my heart. https://dreammountains.com/dreamteam/

HABITAT TIDBIT
Former President Jimmy Carter, who has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for 35 years, will be turning 95 on October 1st.
The former President and his wife Rosalynn Carter are continuing this commitment to Habitat by joining future homeowners and volunteers this fall to build 21 new homes in the Park Preserve neighborhood of Nashville. This is an amazing feat not only for someone of the former presidents age, but also for the fact that he had to undergo hip surgery this past spring after falling in his home. The Carter's not only support Habitat at home but also abroad. In 2017 they came to Canada to help build homes for the Jimmy & Rosalynn work project.
getting closer to starting our build in Cardinal. In the next few weeks we should be posting on our website at www.habitat1000islands.org the details of when our ground breaking ceremony will take place!
World Habitat Day is on October 7 - this is a United Nations awareness day designed to bring attention to the state of our towns and cities, and the right to adequate shelter for all. It's election time, so it's a perfect opportunity for us to ask our candidates how they will help make safe and affordable housing a priority.
Waste Reduction Week in Canada is recognized from October 21 to 27. Why not do your part by donating to our ReStores your gently used household, or renovation items that are still in great shape? You'll not only help support Habitat, but also save re-usable items from the landfill. Visit our website for a list of items we accept. We even take your old appliances, working or not!
TAX TIP !!!!! when you donate something of some value it often can be appraised and a charitable tax receipt will be given, it's a great tax break, doesn't take alot of time to do and I love adding those onto a tax return. ~ Tim
Example, let's say my friend Mark decides to donate his prized load of tiles that he over bought when building his rental ( and he didn't keep his receipt, if you knew Mark you would understand) and they are worth say $1000 if he could sell them full retail ( they are in good shape) and if HFH decides that they can sell them for say 50% less, so $500, he would get a tax receipt for the now Fair Market Value of $500 and on his taxes he would get an extra refund of $232 with that one decision. That would almost pay many peoples tax bill from me for a couple years, basically taxes are done for free with a little thinking and generosity. Now if one of us could do this everyday for a year 232*365 = 84,680 in tax savings in our little group, one a day and the charity now has $182,500 in potential sales (to build a house for a young family) , $365,000 in goods at retail value, and if it was all tiles, now we are just getting crazy. Neat Impact , think about that and do it .... another example would be to donate your old car, get a $500 receipt, same principal, donate a beautiful kitchen table and chairs, you don't need it any more, or you inheritated from your aunts estate, or the kid doesn't need the whatever anymore as they are heading west and no room in the plane and you paid good money for it, bring it in.
