What do we call Tom ? I did some research on the matter not being a learned person on this matter.
A guest pastor is commonly referred to as a guest preacher, guest minister, or simply a guest speaker. They are often invited to deliver a sermon, lead worship, or provide special teaching for a single service or event, and may also be referred to as "pulpit supply" in some denominations.
Common Terms and Roles:
Guest Preacher/Minister: The most common term for someone invited to speak at a church they do not regularly serve.
Pulpit Supply: A minister filling in for a pastor on a temporary or one-time basis.
Itinerant Speaker/Evangelist: A preacher who travels to different churches to minister.
