** Napoleon Hill's Thought for the Day:

------------------------------------------------------------

** Act on your own initiative, be prepared to assume full responsibility for your acts.

------------------------------------------------------------

One of the primary differences between those who achieve great things in their lives and those who manage only to "get by" is that successful people learned early in life that they were responsible for their own actions. No other person can make you successful or keep you from achieving your goals.

Taking the initiative means assuming a leadership role, a position that singles you out for praise – and for criticism. The good leader is one who shares the credit for success with others and assumes full responsibility for failures or temporary setbacks. When you accept responsibility for your actions, you gain the respect of others and are well on the way to creating your own future.

  • Save expense for the company, and the company will save money for you in proportion.
    ------------------------------------------------------------

The rewards may not come today, next week, or even next year, but they will come. When you make it to practice to look after the company's assets as you would look after your own, you have shown that you were worthy of the trust of your employer— and your fellow employees. You are destined for bigger and better things. The savings need not be large. It's the habit of eliminating waste and searching for opportunities to save money that is important. Make it a practice to examine everything you do to see how it could be done more economically, and it is inevitable that you will soon find yourself in charge of larger budgets and more people.

  • You come to finally believe anything you tell yourself often enough—even if it is not true.
    ------------------------------------------------------------

If you repeat something repeatedly to yourself, your subconscious mind will eventually accept it as fact. When something has been accepted as truth by your subconscious mind, it will work overtime to transform the idea into physical reality. You can use this by programming your mind to think positive thoughts. Use self-motivators or affirmations to persuade your subconscious that you can do anything. Repeat the self-motivator several times a day until it becomes an automatic reaction to recall a positive phrase whenever you begin to doubt yourself.

    Replace "I can't" with "I will!"

  • Your own mental attitude is your real boss.
    ------------------------------------------------------------

While your time and your labor may be subject to the demands of your employer and others, your mind is the one thing that no one can control but you. The thoughts you think, your attitude toward your job, and what you are willing to give in exchange for your compensation are entirely up to you. It is up to you to determine whether you will be a slave to a negative attitude or the master of a positive one. Your attitude, your only master in life, is entirely within your control. When you control your attitude toward events, you control the eventual implication of those events.

  • It isn't defeat, but rather your mental attitude toward it, that whips you.
    ------------------------------------------------------------

There are many things in life that you cannot control, but you can always control your attitude toward them. Defeat is only temporary if you allow it to be so. When you have a positive attitude, you will recognize failure for the impostor that it is and realize that it is a learning experience. This valuable lesson will help you succeed with the next attempt.
Ask yourself: What could I have done differently to alter the outcomes? What can I do in the future to minimize problems and mistakes? What did I learn from this experience that I can use next time? If you approach obstacles and setbacks positively, you will be surprised how quickly you can turn defeat into victory.

  • A positive mental attitude is an irresistible force that knows no such thing as an immovable body.
    ------------------------------------------------------------

Time and again, we hear stories about ordinary people who do seemingly impossible things when they find themselves in an emergency situation. They perform herculean feats of strength and endurance, things they never dreamed they were capable of. Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could harness that strength and make it available anytime you need it? You can—if you believe you can.

No doubt you can remember a time in your life when you were exceptionally focused on your objective and achieved more in less time than ever before. Perhaps it was an impending vacation that motivated you to get everything done before you departed, or maybe a "must pass" exam helped you focus your concentration. The intensity that you develop in those situations is always available to you when you have a Positive Mental Attitude.

Believing in yourself is the first secret to success.

  • ** It doesn't pay to look at others through a foggy mental attitude.
    ------------------------------------------------------------

You must keep your mind sharply focused on your goals and have a grounding philosophy that sustains you when the going is tough. When you consistently apply the principles of success until they become a part of you, you will no longer have to stop and think about what you should do in any given situation. Your positive response will be automatic.
Make sure you spend time reflecting and studying. Clearly establish your goals and develop a plan and timetable for achieving them. Read the works of motivational writers and great philosophers, and use the knowledge you gain to develop your code of conduct. Establish a philosophy of success that you can stick with—day in and day out—regardless of what the rest of the world does.

Today is a great day to be amazing.

Think in terms of opulence if you wish to attract riches.

  • A negative mind spawns only negative ideas.
    ------------------------------------------------------------

It is a physical impossibility for a negative mind to generate positive thoughts. When you allow yourself to dwell on the negative aspects of life, negative thinking expands to fit all your thoughts until there is no room for positive thoughts to grow. It becomes an endless cycle. The habit of negative thinking generates more and more negative thoughts, which the mind attempts to turn into physical reality. The result is a life of despair and hopelessness.
Develop the habit of eliminating negative thoughts the moment they appear. Start small at first. When you first hear that inner voice that says, "I can't do this," immediately put the thought out of your mind. Instead, concentrate on the task itself. Break it down into manageable parts and complete them one at a time. When the job is finished, tell your doubting self: "You were wrong. I could do it, and I did!"

The harder you work, the better you get.

Every thought you release becomes part of your permanent character.

  • Character is accurately reflected in one's mental attitude.
    ------------------------------------------------------------

Without a strong foundation built on positive character traits, success will not long endure. It is virtually impossible to fake good character. Phonies are quickly spotted because they need the substance and determination to maintain the charade. Developing good character begins with a positive attitude. Your desire to be a good, decent, honest, considerate person must first occur in your mind. When you decide to become a person of character, you will also find that you are much more willing to do the right thing simply because it is the right thing.

Success is not an activity but a process.

Suppose you had to help straighten out the trouble of every person on the works and you’ll have a fair idea of what a manager's job is like.

  • The best recommendation is the one you give yourself by rendering superior service with the right mental attitude.
    ------------------------------------------------------------

What others think of you is essential if it coincides with your feelings. If others recognize you as a positive person who always makes a significant contribution, you will be in demand, for there are never enough such people in any organization. Your co-workers will value you, your customers will appreciate you, and your boss will recognize and reward you if you stick with it. You may not become an overnight success, but neither will you fail instantly and permanently. Make it a habit to go the extra mile with a Positive Mental Attitude.

    Stay positive in every situation.

Self-respect is the best means of getting the respect of others.
