As a follow-up to the presentation by The Honourable Ratna Omidvar, C.M., O.Ont., Senator for Ontario, at the Ottawa Region Charity & Not-for-Profit Law Webinar held on Thursday, February 11, 2021, concerning her proposed Bill S-222, the Effective and Accountable Charities Act, we wanted to forward to you a link to our latest Charity & NFP Law Bulletin No. 486. The Bulletin is entitled Bill S-222 Proposes to Eliminate the “Own Activities” Requirement for Charities and provides an explanation and commentary concerning Bill S-222 for your information.
At the Ottawa Region Charity & Not-for-Profit Law Webinar on Thursday, February 11, 2021, Senator Omidvar will be speaking on Bill S-222, Effective and Accountable Charities Act that was tabled on February 8, 2021 in the Senate. If passed, it will allow charities to provide resources to non-qualified donees, as long as they ensure they are used responsibly to achieve charitable purposes.
